LightHeart Gear
LightHeart Gear is the brainchild of Judy Gross, AKA HeartFire. An avid hiker, and dressmaker, she lamented about the need to carry a 4+ pound tent during her thru hike attempt of the Appalachian Trail in 2006. This was the single heaviest, and largest item in her pack other than food and water. With her skills of sewing and pattern design, and her knowledge of backpacking, she has designed several ultra-light tents for backpacking and hiking. This then led Judy to design and manufacture her own line of rain gear.
LightHeart Gear offers rain jackets, rain pants and a rain wrap (skirt) for serious down pours. Our rain gear is waterproof with a hydrostatic head of over 2000mm water. True waterproof material is not breathable so the jacket comes with generous pit zips for ventilation. We also offer a unique Hoodie Pack Cover made from sil-nylon (hydrostatic head of over 3500 mm water) that keeps the water of your pack and off your head and shoulders if you choose.
Offered in a variety of colors, all our rain gear is now offered in Woodland Camo sil-nylon. Regardless of what you choose know that all LightHeart Gear products are sewn in the USA.
