Smith and SOns Knife Company, Huntsman

The Smith and Sons Knife Company, Huntsman, is a knife I just got in today, bough on a whim to fill a gap I wasn't sure what to expect, what I got became an instant favourite. I love the feel of the grip on the knife it is solid in your hand and you realy know it is there without being too bulky. The blade is a full broad tang of ⅛" D2 tool steel, which is a semi-stainless steel that has a forced patina on it to give it a rugged yet eligant look. The scales are last years version made out of olive drab green G10 with a choil for you index finger that account for part of that solid grip you get in it.

The blade is a hollow grind with a perfectly beveled edge on it very even and shaving sharp. I have not used this knife enough to come to conclusions about it other than I am extremely excited to be testing it out and am looking forward to getting to know it. My purchase on a whim has turned into a deep respect for one of the most friendly knife making families out there, my correspondence with Smith and Sons has been excellent and they seem to be ever available to answer any questions you may have.

It does not end there though, I am not know for getting too excited about stock sheaths it is often the case that knife makers and leather smiths are not the same folks and I get a lot of custom leather work done because of this but in this instance the sheath is exceptional the fit is perfect, the way it sits on you hip makes it very easy to draw and sheath and the heavy leather will last a lifetime. In this case Smith and Sons Knife Company excels above so many others with such great fit and finish on both knife and sheath. A truly rare occurrence and a very welcome one.

This knife got me so excited I had to do up a little video and write up in it immediately and this is not a review but a product introduction and in the coming weeks and months I will be putting this knife to the test to see what it really can do. Until then here are the detail specs on the knife so you can get an idea of what you are looking at and give Smith and Sons a call because they just may have the knife fit for you.
