Black Willow Outdoors

I started looking for a multicam tarp several years ago and couldn’t find what I was looking for. The tarp I wanted was a “cat cut” or cantilever cut tarp in multicam. There was nothing on the market even close to what I was looking for. So I found a local seamstress named Annie at Annie Alterations. I told her what I wanted and gave her the material I had ordered. A few weeks later and $300 shorter, I get a 13’ long cantilever cut tarp in multicam. The only problem with that version was it was made from a 70D polyurethane coated material that at that time was the lightest weight material made in multicam. But it still weighed 3 lbs.

So I waited patiently for a 30 or 40D material to be developed. In the meantime I found a nice lighter weight 70D and started making my own hammock. I was so pleased with the hammock I had made I immediately thought about making another tarp. It was just my luck that the manufacturer had just released a new ultra-light weight material in a 40D weighing just 1.55 oz/yd. The new tarp design goes over so well that other people start asking me to make them one. From there I started getting request to make hammocks, tarps, pack covers, and more.

Today Black Willow Outdoors is still a small one person run company that adheres to quality hand

sewn products made the old fashioned way, one at a time. We now deliver custom made tarps, hammocks, pack covers, and many more products. We use military grade materials in Multicam, Multicam Alpine, A-TACS Arid Urban and Forest Green. If you’re looking for high quality American made outdoor gear for your next outing please give us a look.
